Hi Gordon, interesting reaction, this may not be the forum to say these things, and no I’m not a patriot, or constitutionalist, or a new ager, or one who belongs to the sovereignty redemptive movements (all these solutions are nonsense), heck I’m not even American. I love Christ Jesus, He is my Lord, and he is the only solution. However, back in the 1600s, a movement commenced called the Covenanters, amazingly, under God, they were able to bring the 3 kingdoms of Scotland, England and Ireland into a covenant relationship with Christ which was actualized in the National & Solemn League Covenants; these covenants are binding on these 3 kingdoms today, read the treaties, if you don’t believe me! These two covenants made extensive in roads to abolish episcopacy and the Papacy, as well as accomplish a whole heap of other things, which society, church and state covenanted to keep. However, when Charles II became king while vowing to uphold these treaties, he reneged, and enacted Act Rescissory (1660), abolishing all the principles and doctrines that undergirded the 2nd Reformation, and then the Killing Times commenced, 18,000 Christians were either martyred, imprisoned, tortured for their faith, simply because the believed in the Crown Rights of Christ over the Nations, Christ is King of kings, and Lord of lord (Rev. 19:16)! A lot of the Covenanters fled, and number of them established and influenced the early American churches, in fact, they were responsible for having Virginia outlaw church incorporation. So if we are telling people there is no solution, when 1,000 of Christians joined forces and engaged in spiritual battle against the forces of anti-Christ, why on God’s green earth isn’t that available today? I look to Christ conquering all his and our enemies in history (Ps. 22:27-28; 86:9; 110:1ff; Isa. 2:2-4; 49:23; Dan. 2:44; 1 Cor. 15:25; Rev. 15:4). Scripture teaches it and I believe it, call me misguided if you want, but the church in times past believed in the victory of Christ over the nations and preached it, losing their lives specifically for Christ’s kingship over church and state. There is a lot I could say, but I think I’ve made my point, spend some time reading about the Covenanters. A lot of this stuff is memory holed, which is what popery does with truth, but God always resurrects it. And no I’m not guilty of striving in the flesh, for stating these things brother (2 Cor. 10:4)!
Jack, if it involves anything to do with striving in the flesh, of you and your patriotic cohorts defeating the current forces of evil by way of your own heroic fleshly exertions (all in the name of Christ, of course!), then any message that I ever had was totally, utterly, and completely lost on you.
